Learner Experience Design
LX Design takes the best of Design Thinking to create a roadmap for the unique world of Learning and Development.
Authors Boller and Fletcher in their book "Design Thinking for Training and Development" help to focus our work so that we refine the problem we are given by adding the learner perspective to the center of the process.
Uncovering success measures helps determine future efforts - continue as is, or refine?
Testing, measuring, and iterating ensures the effort meets the original needs.
Getting to implementation is the final success measure.

After reading the chapters on Design Thinking and Learner Experience Design, I was inspired to create this graphic which helps to remind me of the distinct parts that go into the process. The authors remind us that learning is a journey and the process of getting there is not linear. For that reason, the graphic represents the phases in the process in a circler pattern, with the learner represented in the center. The wheel like design calls out important aspects in the journey including perspective, refine, prototype, test, iterate, pilot, iterate some more and then implement.
